A handle for a door incorporates a door latch or lock actuating mechanism and is particularly suitable for the cabin of an utility vehicle to provide for simple operation with reduced risk of inadvertent actuation. The handle comprising a tubular hand rail (2) for attachment to the inside of the door in a substantially horizontally extending position with an actuating cable (1, 3) of which one end is located inside the rail and extends therethrough with the other end operativley coupled to a door latch mechanism. The one end of the cable (4) is connected with a shuttle (6) through a lug (5) and slidable on a rod (7) mounted on a cradle (10) within the rail. The shuttle (6) has a portion extending through a slot (15) in the wall of the rail for longitudinal movement. A hand grip formed from two shell parts (21, 22) connected together and embracing the rail in a sliding manner has a recess (25) engaging the projecting part (6a) of the shuttle whereby the shuttle (6) moves with longitudinal movement of the hand grip (21, 22) to correspondingly move the cable (3) to actuate the door latch. |
