A method of producing a foam insulated product comprises introducing into a mould formed by the walls of an insulation space a mixture of materials capable of reaction to form a synthetic resin foam, and effecting the reaction of the materials in the insulation space under the influence of heat generated within the reactive mixture by the introduction of electromagnetic field energy into the insulation space from a microwave antenna inserted into the insulation space. The mode of the electromagnetic field energy may repeatedly be charged by a rotary electromagnetic stirrer device. Polyurethane foam forming material is described but other types of material can be used, especially those whose reaction is exothermic, e.g. epoxy resins.
