PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver halide emulsion having sensitivity enough for use as a blue recording emulsion and using ultra-thin plate type grains of low fogging and high sharpness by applying a reducing and sensitization process internally to plate type silver halide grains at a manufacturing process, and using an emulsion with a specific compound added. SOLUTION: This silver halide emulsion is prepared to contain plate type silver halide grains having a principal plane, a mean silver bromide content ratio equal to or above 70 mol%, a mean circle-equivalent diameter equal to or above 0.7μm and mean grain thickness less than 0.07μm, occupying 90% or more of a whole projection area. At the manufacturing process of the emulsion, a reducing and sensitization process is internally applied to the plate type silver halide grains. Also, at least one of compounds selected from an expressed by the formula R-SO2 S-M, R-SO2 S-R1 , R-SO2 S-Lm -SSO2 -R2 is added to the emulsion, where R, R1 and R2 stand for an aliphatic group, an alicyclic formula (compound residue), an aromatic group or a hetero cyclic group, M for a cation, L for a vibalent coupling group and (m) for a numeral of 0 or 1.
