PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic focusing device for a camera capable of making a focal distance range as wide as possible or reducing blurring amount even under a condition that automatic focusing is impossible. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a range-finding device 74, a 2nd group pulse motor M2 moving a 2nd lens group L2 for focusing a photographing lens, and a lens side control circuit 70 driving the motor M2 so as to move the lens group L2 to a position where it is focused on a subject at a hyper-focal distance decided by the focal distance of the photographing lens and a diaphragm value when an effective range-finding result is not obtained by the device 74. Thus, the camera is focused on the subject from the hyper-focal distance to infinity even when range-finding is impossible. |
