PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a refrigerant for air conditioner of which leakage can be readily recognized by olfaction or vision. SOLUTION: This refrigerant contains a prescribed odorant and a prescribed coloring mater added thereto through a hydrocarbon (HC)-based refrigerant used for a refrigerating cycle is essentially colorless, transparent and odorless. The odorant imparts the so called irritating odor to the refrigerant and irritates human olfaction when even a trance amount of the refrigerant is released into air. The coloring matter imparts a bright color such as bright red or bright yellow to the refrigerant and the periphery of a leakage site is brightly colored when the refrigerant is released into air. The odrant and coloring matter used are not only nontoxic to human bodies but also inert to the refrigerant and noncorrosive to constituent members of the refrigerating cycle. |
