PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that the coating film of a silver-covering coating containing a conventional coating film base component is yellowed when it is used in a high temperature region of about 170 deg.C. SOLUTION: This composition contains a silicone alkyd resin (alkyd resin- modified silicone resin) as a coating film base component for the silver-covering coating. The composition is excellent in adhesivity to the surface of silver and in transparency, enables to sufficiently exhibit the good ductility and beautiful surface appearance of the silver, is extremely high in a property for preventing the discoloration (corrosion) of the silver, is excellent in durability over a long period, is not yellowed even under exposure to a temperature of 180 deg.C or higher and gives optimal protective covering coating films to the surfaces of deposited silver films. The addition of a carboxylic acid zirconium complex, typically 4-methyl-γ-oxo-benzene-butanoic acid zirconium complex, as a silver-inactivating component in an amount of 0.001-5 wt.% based on the silicone alkyd resin component can further ensure the corrosion resistance in the high temperature region.
