Reactive monoazo dyestuffs containing triazole residues and their use

The invention comprises reactive monoazo dyes of formula wherein A is a radical of the benzene series which may be sulphonated, Z is (a) an acyl radical bound to A via an amino group wherein the acyl radical is a - or b -halogeno-alkanoyl, a - or b -halogeno- or a ,b -dihalogeno-alkenoyl, a ,b -alkenoyl, halo-nitro-benzene-carbonyl- or -sulphonyl wherein the halogen is o- or pto the nitro substituent, or cyclic imide halide radical containing at least one reactive grouping or (b) a b -hydroxyalkyl-sulphonyl- or -sulphamyl radical esterified with sulphuric acid, Y is hydrogen or a sulhonic acid group, M is an aromatic radical bound in o-position and m is 1, 2 or 3. The dyes are prepared (1) by coupling a diazonium compound of an amine Z-A-NH2 with an appropriate triazole compound (2) by oxidizing a disazo dye of formula to the triazole compound, or (3) by acylating an aminoazo dye of formula with an agent introducing the radical Z. The dyes may be used to colour natural and synthetic polyamide and particularly cellulose materials by the usual reactive dye processes in orange-red to violet-red shades.
