The wiping device (1) has a windscreen wiper (2) making a pendulum motion (6a, 6b) along the windscreen (3). The fixing part (8) for the wiper arm (9) is fitted to the wiper drive shaft via a tilting axis (13) so that the arm makes a limited tilting movement (17). By this means, the wiper blade will be set relative to the windscreen at the reversing point so that it is always dragged rather than pushed across the windscreen at all times. A control device (14) controls this process. This device consists of fixed stops (15a, b) and a stop cam (16) moving with the fixing part.
