<p>Disclosed is a method of 1-(alkoxymethyl)pyrrole compounds preparation of the general formula (II) wherein general substituents X, Y, Z, W and R11 have their meanings as described in the Claims. A 1-H-pyrrole compound of the formula (I), in which the general substituents have the stated meaning, reacts with di(alkoxy)methane, dimethylformamide and phosphorous oxychloride in the presence of an aprotic solvent. A newly obtained reaction mixture is treated with a tertiary amine, optionally at increased temperature. It is a safe and effective method of introducing an alkoxymethyl group onto the ring of an Nitrogen atom of a wide variety of pyrrole compounds via the reaction of the appropriate pyrrole precursor of the formula (I) sequentially with dialkoxymethane, Vilsmeier reagent and a tertiary amine. The products of 1-(alkoxymethyl)-pyrroles are useful as insecticidal, acaricidal and molluscicidal agents.</p> |
