The mechanical linkage is for use in space travel. It consists of a strip of hardened fibre laminate material composed of two connected, fibre reinforced materials. The linkage is designed to unfold a solar panel which may be folded up in a very small space. One of the materials (4,6) has a straight line separation seam (8) and the other has a kink at the seam area. The seam is preferably a V or U-shaped groove. The material containing the seam preferably consists of CFK while the other material consists of aramide fibres. |
