PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable reduction of sticking of soot to a detecting part such as a gas introducing part of a cover or a detecting element and maintenance of an excellent state of detection. SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor 20 provided in an intake pipe 12 into which an intake mixture of exhaust recirculation gas and intake air flows is equipped with a cover 22 which covers a sensor element located in the fore end part of the sensor and which has vents 23 for the intake mixture and projects from the inner wall of the intake pipe 12. On the upstream side of the projecting cover 22, a fin 24 having a recessed curved surface and deflecting and converging the intake mixture locally in the direction of the fore end of a detecting part of the oxygen sensor 20 is provided along the inner wall of an intake pipe port. |
