In a method of controlling a converting system for supplying a D.C. motor as disclosed in the main case Specification 981,597, a modification of the manner of operation at zero D.C. output voltage is disclosed whereby the number of phase commutations is reduced. Briefly, with the arrangement shown in Fig. 1 of either Specification (not shown), at zero D.C. volts, commutation takes place according to the main case at t 15 , t 5 (Fig. 2), and again at t 1 , t 2 and all similar instants. However, in the present case three commutations are omitted and commutation takes place at t 5 , t 15 and next at t 6 , t 7 . A more frequent commutation is also disclosed (Fig. 3, not shown), as are also (a) asymmetrical control (b), the operation with two bridges in parallel. |
