1,036,812. Moulding fibre resin material. WEYERHAEUSER CO. Jan. 16, 1964 [Feb. 20, 1963], No. 2004/64. Heading B5A. A method of forming an article, having a sealed surface, from a wood fibre material containing a resin-binder system, comprises initially pressing the material to the required shape between heated forming dies, releasing the pressure, spraying the surface of the article with a sealing material and then repressing the article to cure the sealing material and to fully cure the binder. The binder comprises 10- 40% by weight of a thermoplastic material, e.g. asphalt, cellulosic ethers or esters, coumarone or coumarone-indene resins, polyvinyl resins, alkyd resins, polystyrene resins, or rosin, and 1-15% of a thermosetting resin such as an aldehyde of urea or phenol. Sealing materials comprise a suitable binder containing urea formaldehyde, phenol formaldehyde or other phenolic resin or resorcinol, melamine, acrylic or polyurethane resins.
