A hollow block for absorbing the energy of an explosion in a wall construction composed of blocks and reinforced concrete, a hollow block formed by a mixture of mineralized wood shavings and concrete and with a density no greater than approximately 1 t per cubic metre. The block has, inside, openings which extend in orthogonal directions in order to make it possible to position the reinforced concrete via these, and their aim is to act together with the reinforced concrete in order to resist the forces of an explosion. <IMAGE>
