<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high speed multicolor printing using a thermal head while eliminating print shift. SOLUTION: A control section 100 generates print mask data of yellow, magenta, cyan and black which are then stored in a print mask data memory section 400. A strobe signal (c) for conducting respective heating elements commonly is delivered to a heating element drive section 200. A gate section 300 takes out one print mask data from the memory section 400 based on a select signal (f) and the heating element drive section 200 masks a strobe signal (c) being applied to a corresponding heating element and controls the applying energy by varying the applying pulse width thus realizing multicolor printing. Consequently, multicolor printing can be carried out at high speed through a simple circuit.</p> |
