Regenerating NOx reservoir in an exhaust line of a diesel or lean mixture engine, producing exhaust gas containing NOx, is monitored by measuring temperature to provide information on the operating capability, operating condition and/or storage capacity of the reservoir. Preferably, temperature is measured at a defined time by a direct measurement of least part of the reservoir or an indirect measurement via the gas flowing through it, before, during and/or after the regeneration phase. Also claimed is an arrangement for carrying out the method, with temperature sensor and electronics, together with a device comprising an oxidisable catalyst. |
