Cam-production method using thin plates

The steel plates are stamped to accommodate a tube passing through them and forming a camshaft. Thin plates (1), preferably 0.4 to 1.5mm thick are shaped by stamping at predetermined positions, forming hollow embossed portions and openings. Thicker plates are shaped by embossing at predetermined positions, and permanently joined together for safe transport. The plates can be so stacked together that their cylindrical or tapering protrusions (2, 3) fit in the recesses in adjacent plates.
