Inside a film feeder (4), a pair of film guides (5) for stretching a film (3) are disposed above a conveyor unit (2), which conveys a tray (1) to pass it between the film guides (5) to cover the tray (1) from above with a piece of the film (3) released from the film feeder (4) and to guide two ends of the film (3) to the underside of the tray (1) to wrap the tray (1) in a cylindrically shaped film (3), whose margins before and behind the tray (1) are cut off and edges of the film (3) are folded into the tray (1) to accomplish film wrapping. The tray (1) can be securely prevented from being subjected to a strong stretching force by arranging the forward ends of the film guides (5) in the conveying direction so that they protrude in the tray conveying direction beyond a film releasing position (P) where the film (3) from the film feeder (4) is released from being clamped with a laterally stretching force working on it.
