MATERIAL FOR SEALING THREADED PIPE JOINTS, AND DISPENSER THEREFOR

An article of manufacture which comprises a material for sealing threaded pipe joints comprising a multifilament yarn (7) ready-coated with a joint sealing composition and packaged in a dispenser (1) from which the coated yarn may be supplied for direct application to a threaded area of a pipe. The dispenser comprises a hollow body (1), a cap portion (13) having a dispensing aperture (16) therein and closure means (14) for closing over the aperture when the dispenser is not in use and a multifilament yarn (7) ready-coated with a pipejoint sealing composition is contained in the body. Suitably, the sealing composition is a non-curing paste composition which comprises an oil and filler, optionally with other ingredients, the oil being selected from linseed oil, silicone oils and mineral oils. Suitably, the yarn is of polyamide or polypropylene.
