The plug connector has a base body (1a) which can be attached to an assembly (2) and on which are mounted electrical contact elements, each with a first contact device (12) for plug connection to a complementary contact element and a second contact device (9) for contacting a conductor on the assembly. A number of individual connection modules (3) are arranged in the base body, mutually adjacent to one another and each containing contact elements in a plane perpendicular to the assembly surface and parallel to the plug-in direction. The second contact device is supported on a surface of a respective conductor.
