The invention relates to a clamping chuck for rotating tools with a cylindrical clamping shaft (2) encompassed by a base body (4). A radial through hole (7) in the base body (4) accommodates a clamping screw (10) acting on a pressure member (9) inserted in-between the clamping shaft (2) and the clamping screw in the through hole (7). The pressure member (9) has a radial projection (16) and the through hole includes a cross-sectional narrowing (17) on its inner end. An elastically compressible spring element (18) acts between the pressure member (9) and the through hole (17). The return force of said spring element enables it to raise the pressure member (9) from the clamping shaft (2) when the clamping screw is not engaged, and pushes it back into the through hole (7).
