APPARATUS FOR TREATING WASTE WATER

An apparatus for treating waste water, characterized in that a pressure layer capable of following up the deformation or a movement of a surface of a packed bed of a solid catalyst and/or a solid adsorbent is provided on the packed bed. More particularly, an apparatus provided with a pressure layer, which has a capability of following up a movement of a surface of such a packed bed as mentioned above, on the packed bed, or an apparatus provided with a water-permeable pressure layer, which has a capability of being deformed in accordance with the deformation of a surface of such a packed bed, on the packed bed. Owing to such pressure layers, a movement of a solid catalyst in a solid catalyst packed bed is prevented effectively, and various problems which are caused mainly by a movement of the solid catalyst, such as the abrasion of the solid catalyst, the deterioration of the performance thereof and an increase in a pressure loss, can be solved. This enables the waste water to be treated stably for a long period of time.
