<p>A communications protocol is provided, including a physical interconnecting protocol and a cooperating signal protocol. The physical protocol includes a symmetrical interconnection system in which signals or power are transmitted via symmetrical cable core pairs such that cable reversal reverses each signal or power core pair, but leaves cores connected to the same signal sources and receivers. The signals carried over each core pair are electrically symmetrical signals such as signals conforming to RS422. The signal protocol is also preferably polarity insensitive.</p> |
