The invention relates to a method for the production of organo-rhenium oxides from compounds containing rhenium, wherein a compound containing rhenium is reacted with a silylating agent and an organylating reagent and the compound containing rhenium specially originates from the residue of a used organo-rhenium oxide catalyst or a rhenium oxide catalyst.
