A polyorganosiloxane comprising at least three siloxyl constituents of which at least one is a functional siloxyl of formula (R1(aXSi(O)3-a/2 (I), (where R1 gps. are opt. different and are a monovalent hydrocarbon radical chosen from 1-4C linear or branched alkyl radicals and phenyl; X = monovalent gp. of formula (II), R2 = H, 1-3C linear or branched alkyl radical; Z = at least 3C trivalent gp. being a satd. aliphatic radical, unsaturated ethylenic radical opt. substit. and which may contain at least one carbonyl gp. bonded to form an acetal gp. as in formula (III), or a monocyclic aromatic radical opt. substd., or a polycyclic aromatic radical opt. substd., or a condensated polycyclic aromatic radical opt. substd. or a polycyclic aromatic radical having several cyclic systems opt. condensated and opt. substd. and bonded via valency bonds, or atoms or gps.; bonds (1) and (2) to Z refer to the bonds to the adjacent carbon atoms when Z is an aromatic radical and to the adjacent carbon atoms or those in the beta -position when Z is an aliphatic radical; R3-R6 = opt. different gps. chosen from 1-3C branched or linear alkyl radicals, phenyl radicals and benzyl radicals; R7 = H, 1-12C linear or branched alkyl radicals, alkylcarbonyl radicals contg. 1-8C linear or branched alkyl gp., phenyl radical, benzyl radical, oxygen radical; x = 0, 1, 2, 3; y = 0, 1; a = 0, 1, 2). Also claimed are: (i) the prepn. of the claimed polyorganosiloxane; (ii) a new unsatd. organic cpd. of formula (IX) used in (i); (iii) use of a polyorganosiloxane as a stabiliser against degradation of organic polymers due to light, oxygen and heat; and (iv) stabilised organic polymer compsn.. |
