The invention relates to a method for effecting a colour change in a plant which at least comprises a pigment of the class of anthocyanins, in which method a solution of a colour-changing compound is applied at least to the part of the plant for which the colour change is desired. The invention further relates to plants thus treated, as well as the use of a solution of a colour-changing compound for locally changing the colour of an anthocyanin-containing plant.
