In a device for turning compost in a tunnel clamp sunk in the ground with running gear on the ground on either side of the tunnel clamp and a horizontal turner projecting into the tunnel clamp and arranged transversely to the direction of travel, said turner is arranged on a bearer in the central longitudinal plane of the running gear and said bearer can be moved out of the tunnel clamp to above the ground with the turner. It is thus possible to turn the compost heaped in the tunnel clamp over its entire width, to withdraw the device freely without performing a turning cycle and to transport it without hindrance from the turner.
