PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a construction material high in mechanical strength at a low cost through making use of both sawdust and seashells as wastes without the need of removing the salt adhered to the seashells, by mixing both cement and inorganic hardening liquid with crushed granules of both sawdust and seashells under agitation followed by casting the mixture in a form and then solidifying it under pressure followed by curing the solidified mixture. SOLUTION: Sawdust 1 with a granular size of 0.5-5.0 mm produced in e.g. lumbermills and crushed granules 2 of seashells with a granular size of e.g. 0.1-5.0 mm is mixed, under agitation, with an inorganic hardening liquid consisting of liquid compounds prepared by mixing each appropriate amount of cement 3 (e.g. Portland cement) with such elements as pref. alkali metal(s), alkaline earth metal(s), carbon, nitrogen, halogen(s) and iron group element(s), and the resultant mixture is then cast into a form solidified under pressure, and then cured, thus obtaining the objective construction material. It is preferable that this construction material is composed of 20-40 wt.% of sawdust, 15-35 wt.% of crushed granules of seashell, 30-45 wt.% of cement, and such an amount of the inorganic hardening liquid as to account for 1.5-2.5 wt.% of the amount of the cement to be used.
|
