摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately control the charging of a battery which is used as the power source of an electric automobile when a power failure occurs while the battery is charged and when the power supply is restored. SOLUTION: A charge control computer 30 which uses an auxiliary battery 24 as a power source stores the already spent charging time of a battery 12 until a power failure occurs in a RAM 38 when the computer 30 detects the interruption of external AC power supply 36 from the level fluctuation of a power failure on/off signal Si while the battery 12 is charged. Then the computer 30 immediately changes its own operation mode to a low-power operation mode from a normal-power operation mode. When the computer 30 detects the restoration of the power supply 36 thereafter, the computer 30 restarts the charging of the battery 12 by setting new target charging time from the previous target charging time and the stored already spent charging time. Therefore, the use of the auxiliary battery 24 during the power failure can be minimized. In addition, the battery 12 can be charged accurately and fully after the power supply is restored.</p>
