PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium-manganese composite oxide having a high cycle characteristic, capable of being used for a nonaqueous lithium secondary battery by wet-blending lithium hydroxide and a manganese compound with a mixed solvent of water and a hydroxyl group contained water soluble solvent and/or a dispersant, drying and cracking the slurry so obtained, cooling and again cracking the slurry after the primary baking thereof under an oxidizing atmosphere and then subjecting the slurry to a secondary baking process under the oxidizing atmosphere as well. SOLUTION: A lithium hydroxide and a manganese compound are blended, so that the mole ratio of Li to Mn is approximately 1:2. In addition, an alcohol containing 1 to 3 carbons and a mixed solvent using an anion or nonionic dispersant are added to prepare a slurry-type product for wet-blending. The slurry so obtained is dried and subjected to a primary cracking process, thereby making a mean grain size between 20 μm and 100 μm. The product is then subjected to a primary baking process at a temperature between 350 deg.C and 500 deg.C under an oxidizing atmosphere, and cooled down to a level equal to or below 45 deg.C. Furthermore, the product is subjected to a secondary cracking process and a secondary baking process at a temperature between 600 deg.C and 800 deg.C under an oxidizing atmosphere as well. |
