PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an acrylic resin compsn. with a high dimensional stability by compounding methyl methacrylate or a (meth)acrylic monomer mixture, polymethyl methacrylate or an acrylic copolymer, and an org. peroxide curative. SOLUTION: This resin compsn. comprises 30-90 wt.% methyl methacrylate or (meth)acrylate monomer mixture (A), 10-70 wt.% polymethyl methacrylate or acrylic copolymer having a wt. average mol.wt. of 15.000-300,000 (B), and a curative (C) represented by the formula (wherein R1 is 2-6C alkyl; and the benzene ring may be substd. by halogen or alkyl)(e.g. t-amyl peroxybenzoate) in an amt. of 0.01-10 wt.% of the sum of ingredients A and B. 100 pts.wt. this resin compsn. is compounded with 50-300 pts.wt. inorg. filler (e.g. aluminum hydroxide or silica) to give an acrylic premix. The premix is further mixed with resin particles contg. an inorg. filler and is molded to give an artificial marble.
