PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the flexibility and the strength against side pressure by forming at least the outermost part of a resin part by using thermoplastic resin whose foaming rate and air bubble diameter are specified. SOLUTION: A spacer for an optical fiber cable which has a resin part with an optical fiber storage groove around a tensile strength body, and at least the outermost part of the resin part is formed of the thermoplastic resin foaming body having a 10 to 70% foaming rate and a 10 to 400μm air bubble diameter. The foaming rate and air bubble diameter of the foaming body of this resin part are adjusted as mentioned above, so even when the size of the storage groove for the optical fiber is made large, the spacer has excellent flexibility and strength against side pressure. As this thermoplastic resin foaming body, a foaming body of high-density polyethylene is preferably used in consideration of its workability, strength, price, and practical use result.
