PURPOSE:To provide an automatic focus detector capable of accurately detecting focus by detecting the unbalanced state of a pair of subject images formed by a focus detection optical system such as vignetting and automatically correcting it. CONSTITUTION:This automatic focus detector is provided with a vignetting state detection means 50 detecting the vignetting state of an image formed by the focus detection system 20 according to a pair of output outputted from an image detection means 30 having an image sensor array and outputting a signal in accordance with the state. Thus, an inappropriate state is detected only based on the optical input inherent in a photographing optical system and the respective parts of a camera are controlled, so that the focus is accurately detected. |
