<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a phenolic-group-terminated polysilane by reacting a polysilane having a hydrogen atom at each end with a vinyl-containing phenolic derivative with its hydroxyl group being protected in the presence of an organometallic catalyst and removing the protective group from the product. SOLUTION: A polysilane having a hydrogen group at each end and represented by formula I (wherein R is an alkyl, an aryl, an alkoxyl, an amino or silyl; and n is 2-10,000) is reacted with a vinyl-containing phenol derivative with its hydroxyl group being protected and represented by formula II (wherein R1 is a protective group for the hydroxyl in the m- or p-position and is an alkyl, an alkoxyalkyl, silyl, an acyl, an alkylthioalkyl or an alkylsulfoxy; and R2 is a single bond, an alkylene or a divalent aromatic hydrocarbon group) in the presence of an organometallic catalyst to obtain a polysilane represented by formula III and removing the protective group from the compound to obtain a polysilane having a phenolic group at each end and represented by formula IV.</p> |
