MEMORY READING METHOD FOR CORRECTING ERROR IN DECODING DEVICE OF CD-ROM DRIVE AND CIRCUIT THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a memory reading cycle number by reading data memory in the page mode reading cycle of a page length to make a symbol for performing error correction for sector data stored in the data memory corresponding to a physical address to be stored. SOLUTION: The count values of a code word counter 104 and a symbol counter 106 are simultaneously impressed to an offset address generation section 108, a ROM 126 and a page mode control unit 118. The ROM 116 outputs a page length value for the symbol number of a code word number equivalent to each count value. The page mode control unit 18 operates a reading control unit 120 in a page mode based on its page length value and operates the same to read sector data stored in a data memory 100. Thus, a number of memory reading operations are divided into a small number of page mode reading cycles to be performed, and thus the overall memory reading cycle number is reduced.
