<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour video data coder by which contour video data are coded based on a time correlation between a preceding contour and an current contour and the data quantity to be sent is much more reduced. SOLUTION: The coder includes an ME&MC section 130 that applies motion estimate and motion compensation to a preceding contour based on a current contour to generate a predicted contour, an indexing section 140 that indexes contour pixels on the predicted contour sequentially, a matching line segment detection section 150 that detects a matching line segment between the current contour and the predicted contour, a main apex coding section 160 that codes sequentially indices of the main apex to generate coded main apex information, a mismatching line segment detection section 170 that detects a mismatching line segment, a polygonal approximation section 180 that applies polygonal approximation to each mismatching line segment to detect sub apex, a sub apex number mode section that codes the sub apex to generate coded sub apex information and an MUX 210 that combines the coded main apex information and the coded sub apex information to produce coded contour information.</p> |
