PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alkaline secondary battery of which cycle life and discharge characteristics under low-temperature environment are improved. SOLUTION: This secondary battery is provided with a positive electrode 2, a negative electrode 4, including hydrogen storage alloy and conductive material and alkaline electrolyte. The conductive material causes thermal decomposition under an inert gas environment of 500 deg.C and generates carbon monoxide gas (CO) and/or carbon dioxide (CO2 ). The carbon black gas generation amount of which is 20 ml/g or less at 25 deg.C under an atmospheric pressure of is included in this battery. |
