PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module, which inhibits the generation of noise, which is caused by reflected light, in a semiconductor laser and at the same time, enables a reduction in the cost of a communication network and the like. SOLUTION: Outgoing light from a distributed feedback laser diode LD is converged by a condensing lens 8 and is made to incide in the light incidence end surface IN of an optical fiber FB through an optical isolator IS. The isolator IS is arranged on the inside of the focal length of the lens 8 and inhibits reflected light from the fiber FB from returning to the diode LD. By mounting previously the isolator IS to the diode LD and the lens 8, which converges the outgoing light from the diode LD and enables the outgoing light to incide in the light incidence end surface IN of the fiber FB, an optical module can be directly coupled with an optical fiber for communication use and another optical isolator module and the like are dispensed with. |
