PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve running performance, wear resistance and durability by forming a carbon film on a magnetic layer and holding a branched carboxylic acid monoester as a lubricant to secure excellent lubricating property under a various use condition and to maintain the lubricating effect over a long period. SOLUTION: When the carbon film is formed on the magnetic layer and the branched carboxylic acid monoester is applied on the carbon film as the lubricant, a lubricating film is formed by the adsorption of an ester of a polar group part of the lubricant molecule on the carbon film and the cohesive force between long chain hydrocarbon groups of the hydrophobic group part. The branched carboxylic acid monoester has a structure of a chemical formula containing hydrophobic groups R1-R3, R1CH(R2)COOR3. The lubricating effect is maintained without the degradation of properties at a low temp. and high temp. and the use of a fluorine based harmful material causing environment pollution is suppressed to prevent adverse effect against environment. |
