In a roof rack foot for fastening a roof rack bar (9) over a vehicle roof (1, 2), a support part (17) bears against the roof. The foot (8) has a clamping device (24) with an engagement part (14) which interacts with an engagement device (12, 13) which is sunk in a channel (3) in the roof (1, 2). The engagement part (14) is a screw which extends with a part (15) freely through an opening (22) in the lower part (16, 17) of the foot (8) and which, on the upper side of a bottom part (16) in the foot (8), has, with a threaded part (20), a threaded engagement with a nut (19) in order to be pressed upwards when the latter is tightened so that the foot (8) is fastened towards the roof (1, 2).
