PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a black matrix coloring composition with high precision and excellent shading property by using carbon black based pigment to which specified surface treatment is given. SOLUTION: For a black matrix coloring composition, shading pigment as carbon black based pigment whose surface is treated with one or more coating material selected out of polymer groups substantially insoluble into hydrate amorphous silica, anhydrous amorphous silica, hardening polymer and medium is used. Host carbon black based pigment to which surface treatment is given includes C.I. pigment black 6, C.I. pigment black 7, C.I. pigment black 8, C.I. pigment black 9 or C.I. pigment black 10, independently or mixed.
