PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a printer in common by using a same writer, independently of whether image data are binary data or multi-value data. SOLUTION: Image data sent from an external device 2, such as a personal computer represent unit pixel as binary or multi-value data and one or plurality of the data of unit pixel configure basic processing unit data (8 bits). The data are latched by a latch circuit 12 by 8-bit each, and in the case that one pixel is expressed by 1-bit, 2-bit or 4-bit, a 1st selector 131, a 2nd selector 132 or a 3rd selector 133 gives data by one pixel each, to a bit conversion circuit 15. The bit conversion circuit 15 converts the data expressed in 1-bit, 2-bit or 4-bit into data in 8-bit per unit pixel uniformly, and the converted data are outputted to a writer 16 such as a laser diode. |
