<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ATM(asynchronous transfer mode) communication system which minimally suppresses bad effects that are given to the path of a main signal when a shaping operation continues on the occurrence of burst traffic. SOLUTION: A shaping functioning part of this ATM communication system performs the state supervision and setting of a main signal path about main signal memory 3 and 4 and other signal paths, and is also provided with an F/W-INF 12 that serves as an interfacing part with an external host CPU which writes a minimum cell interval value in parameter memory 9. Because a main signal memory controlling part 2, an operation memory controlling part 8 and a parameter memory controlling part 7 change memory control and stop a shaping operation that is performed by a shaping processing part 6 when a failure occurs on hardwares except the main signal path about the memory 3 and 4, bit errors in a cell, cell losses and occurrences of wrong distribution are minimally suppressed except when the entire memory 3 and 4 fails and a shaping operation can be continued.</p> |
