PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device which eliminates troubles when a different kind of lamp is installed. SOLUTION: A voltage is induced in the secondary winding Tr1b of an inverter transformer Tr1 by turning a transistor Q1 on to light a fluorescent lamp FL at high frequency. When a correct fluorescent lamp FL is installed, an appropriate voltage is induced in a detecting wiring Tr1c, a detector circuit 7 regards it as normal, a control circuit 5 performs normal control, and an inverter circuit 2 performs normal output. When a different kind of lamp is installed, a voltage different from the appropriate voltage is induced in the detecting wiring Tr1c, and the control circuit 5, detecting the failure of installation of the different kind of lamp, varies or stops the switching of the transistor Q1 to reduce or stop the output of the inverter circuit 2. |
