PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract the outline of an object to be image picked-up in the range of an executable processing time in a picture processing system for operating the picture processing of an image picked-up picture obtained by image picking-up the object to be image picked-up. SOLUTION: A binarization processing is applied to an image picked-up picture provided from a video camera 1 by a picture processor 3, a thinning processing is applied to this binarized picture, and a picture to be processed narrowed down to picture elements related with an outline to be extracted is obtained. Then, the xy coordinate values of all picture elements having a luminance level related with the outline to be extracted of the picture to be processed are stored in a storage area. A straight line passing through the picture elements is defined as a solid, a storage address in which the position information of the picture elements is stored is expressed with the gene of the solid, and generation alternation is performed based on a genetic algorithm method so that an outline constituted of the prescribed number of straight lines is extracted. |
