PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the distance between two specified points on a monitor image by storing a photographed image of an object in a first memory and a previously registered scale image in a second memory, superposing these images to produce a monitor image and then calculating the size and the position by an image editing means and the image pickup magnification by a magnification operating means. SOLUTION: An image input section 111 picks up a photographic image Gp from a digital camera 20 and stores the image Gp in an RAM 15. A scale image management section 113 selects one of a plurality of scale images Gs recorded on a hard disc 16 and delivers a selected scale image Gs to an image editing section A12. The image editing section 112 superposes the photographic image Gp in the RAM 15 on the scale image to produce a monitor image CM. The editing section 112 comprises an operating section 121 for calculating the image pickup magnification of the photographic image Gp and an operating selection 122 for calculating the actual size at an arbitrary part of the image Gp and has a function for synthesizing characters and dimensional lines representative of the calculated size to produce a monitor image GM. |
