The method includes using an electro-pump (1) connected by appropriate pipes (4,5) to a flow control pistol grip (2) for fuel supply. In the installation replacing the pistol grip (2) in its support (9) is used to stop the electro-pump (1), this same action enabling the electro-pump (1) to be always activated during a period of N seconds. This activation period ensures that the hydraulic circuit is pressurised by the fluid in the pipe circuit. During this time period of N seconds the quantity of fluid that has passed through the hydraulic circuit is measured and the pistol grip control is maintained closed. The fluid quantity is measured and memorised after a number n( say 3 ) distributions, and if this memorised quantity of fuel is greater than a certain value the pump (1) is switched off whilst waiting for some intervention to stop the loss of fuel. In the flexible part (5) of the fuel pipe, the variation in volume due to the phenomena of flexible pipe swelling is, is determined in advance. The fluid quantity detection system takes this variation into account.
