PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transform a laser beam in a TEM mode into a laser beam with Gaussian distribution to be guided into a fiber by transmitting it through binary optics changed in thickness in corresponding areas so that the phases of beams in the areas match one another. SOLUTION: The phases of a beam in areas are reversed corresponding to the order of the mode for guiding a laser beam, which is transmitted through binary optics changed in thickness in corresponding areas, into an optical fiber corresponding to the areas of the beam so that the phases can match one another in the areas. For example, a laser beam fixed to a TEM11 mode in a resonator 1 with an aperture member 10 is not only diffracted to be converged near the center when injected in the binary optics 3 but also subjected toπphase shift at either a right half or a left half to make field amplification in the same code and then returned to a parallel beam with the binary optics 4. In this way, it provides approximate Gaussian distribution. |
