PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the twist of a deflection coil, and improve symmetric property in a magnetic field, to improve a convergence characteristic, by winding a strand on the coil metallic mold for a saddle type deflection coil in a counterclockwise direction, through using the strand stranded in a counterclockwise direction. SOLUTION: A saddle type deflection coil 1 is formed by using a strand 1a, wherein plural lead wires are stranded in a counterclockwise direction, as a coil for a saddle type deflection coil 1, and rotating a coil metal mold 2 in a clockwise direction shown by a broken line arrow, to wind the strand 1a in the saddle type shape gap of the coil metal mold 2. This means the winding direction of the strand 1a is a direction of (a)→(b)→(c)→(d)→(a), that is, a conterclockwise direction seeing from on a Y-axis from a point of view of the fixation of the coil metal mold 2. By using the strand 1a stranded in the counterclockwise direction, coil torsion, due to the shape, such as the bending of the deflection coil 1 caused by winding in the counterclockwise direction, can be canceled or restrained to conform or closely near the respective points of end parts (a)-(d) to X-Z surfaces.
