The invention concerns a device (2) for setting an adapter (11) on a blank (1) to transfer and fix it in a cutting device (3) controlled by cutting data, characterised in that it comprises means acquiring (4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9) characteristics of the glass to be made, means supporting (10) the blank (1), in the device (2) setting the adapter, means (14, 15) emitting/receiving radiation analysing the blank, means (4, 16) acquiring characteristics of the blank, by analysing the signals delivered by the emitting/receiving means (14, 15), and means (4) determining for the blank cutting data, to control the cutting device (3).
